It’s family homeschool field trip time! We have a North Carolina zoo family membership and with our membership, admission to Sylvan Heights Bird Park is free. The park located in Scotland Neck, North Carolina has more than 200 species of bird living there. The variety of birds is amazing! The birds looked taken care of and well fed. Food, live music and science stations, count us in! The Natural Science Museum in Raleigh had science stations based on the movie Big Hero 6. We are museum members and only paid 8 bucks total. We are a homeschool family that loves frugal learning activities.
Why should follow your local museums on social media? Following your local museums on social media opens doors to the most amazing finds. Recently the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, NC posted via Facebook about interest for a focus group study. This was super exciting because it would be a great opportunity for us to have a voice for the homeschool community.
Is the price tag worth it? We recently visited the Museum of Life and Science in Durham, NC. We have a NC family zoo membership which allows us, a family of four to pay half price for tickets.
